VMS Inventory QuickView
Vessel Management System Professional
The Inventory QuickView is a convenient way to locate and evaluate inventory items. It allows you to see all inventory depleted below user-defined Minimums, view past and current Purchase Order information, the Vendor assigned to an item's purchase and the Item Location on the vessel.
When opened as a Reminder this module will reveal a quick survey of those items depleted below inventory minimums only, aka Restock Levels (also automatically added to Shopping Lists). If an item's Inventory On Hand is less than the Inventory Minimum, the QTY (Quantity) column will display in red (indicating that the item should be placed On Order, or will be placed On Order automatically if a Purchase Order Pro Forma is generated for that Vendor.
If the Item has an active Purchase Order, the Last PO Date and Last PO Number columns will display green, with the last Quantity Ordered also displayed. If an item is currently Bookmarked (chosen because it was referenced from another module or in current Rotation) it will be marked bold (in this example 320 Weight Crude) and the Bookmark Indicator (left column) will be Green.
Notice the row of control buttons at the top of the module. They allow you to reveal All Quantity (as opposed to Restock Only Quantities. or Minimum Quantity minus Quantity), save the inventory to an Excel compatible spreadsheet, Toggle columns to show different information (Vendor/Manufacturer combined, Location/Task Assignments combined) and the context sensitive Help icon.
Columns and rows of data allow additional control of how you segregate records and rotate to various views of interrelated data. In the example shown above you might choose to limit the display to only Engineering Inventory or only Dry Stores items by clicking once on any Engineering or Dry Stores type title (that is, any entry in the Type column), or re-open the All Types display (shown) by single clicking again in that column. (To reiterate, one click in the Type column isolates the display to a single type, another click brings back all types).
When items are underlined (see 3 inch pulley) and the record indicator is green a single click will close the QuickView and jump to that specific inventory record (with immediate return to the QuickView module/display provided from the parent module via Rotation). In this example the 3 inch pulley was ordered and successfully received in Purchase Order # 1 on 7/10/99, and a quantity of (1) was placed on that Purchase Order.
The Location column can be isolated to a single location by clicking (as the type description above) and reset to all locations with another click. Additionally, the Location column can be toggled to display Related Task data, segregated by a single task or returned to all tasks.
The Vendor column will open the vendor shown in the Vendor Address Book (with immediate return to the QuickView module/display provided from the parent module via Rotation). If the Vendor column is toggled to display the Manufacturer for that record a single click in that column will open the parent inventory record (not rotate to an address book record because it is not presumed that a Manufacturer will be given a record in the Vendor Address Book).
A single click on any Purchase Order information will jump to that purchase order, with instant return to the inventory record via Rotation.
If you click on most column headers (like Type, Description, etc., you can re-sort the combined column results ascending or descending, even if the columns are toggled. If you open this QuickView from an inventory module a specific inventory item will be highlighted, or Bookmarked. No matter how you sort columns the QuickView will stay focused on this Bookmarked item unless you Disable the Bookmark or close the module without linking out..
You may also delete records from this QuickView. Click the button Enable Delete to invoke this function. A series of dialogs will guide you through the deletion process. This is very powerful and should be used with caution.
